The Columbia Group (TCG), a technical services support company which has a successful 50+ year history of providing direct support to NAVSEA, Military Sealift Command, the US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, and other maritime clients with acquisition, logistics management, engineering, design, fabrication, test and evaluation, information technology and financial management support services is seeking a SBIR Program Manager.

This project involves support to NAVSEA at the Washington Navy Yard and in TCG Offices at Maritime Plaza (across from the Navy Yard). The client is Team Ships and the project involves support to the Front Office organization. Team Ships provides the U.S. Navy with a single organization that concentrates knowledge, management skills and buying power for the acquisition and modernization of non-nuclear surface ships. Team Ships’ responsibilities encompass oversight and management of research, development, systems integration, design, construction, testing, Fleet introduction, readiness, lifetime support, disposal and FMS transfer of current and future surface combatant, amphibious and auxiliary ships. Team Ships and its programs play an instrumental role in fighting and winning wars, providing the National Command Authority with combat-ready surface warships around the globe anytime and anywhere needed. This task order will provide support to Team Ships. The focus of Team Ships continues to be ship design, production delivery, and lifecycle support including a full range of engineering and program management.

The individual in this role will:

  • Act as SME on SBIR and/or R&D-related matters.
  • Manage junior personnel.
  • Manage tasks within larger projects to ensure cost, schedule, and performance meet expectations.
  • Brief senior officers and DoD civilians.
  • Formulate recommendations for senior project staff.
  • Provide inputs to plans and help with their implementation.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • 5 years of directly related experience with US Navy Ship Programs and DoD and Navy SBIR Program and its goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience with the NAVSEA and Team Ships SBIR programs including the organization, processes and management requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of interplay/interface of ship acquisition programs and the SBIR program and supporting technology transition process.
  • Strong proficiency in speaking and writing in English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance prior to being considered.
