Description

Under the direction of the Lead Operator and department Supervisors, the Document Destruction Operator II will perform daily customer service routes and material collection for document shredding services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. The Document Destruction Operator II will be responsible for operating the Document Destruction vehicle and supporting equipment.
  2. Responsible for servicing customer locations along the assigned route with container drop offs, swaps, and pickups. Requires loading of full containers onto truck.
  3. Responsible for box pickups. Requires loading and wrapping pallets via manual labor. Requires loading pallets onto truck through use of pallet jacks, dollies, and other equipment.
  4. Responsible for loading and unloading the truck at the beginning and end of each shift with containers and other necessary supplies.
  5. Responsible for weighing containers following unloading and transferring containers to the document shredding area of the document destruction facility.
  6. Responsible for delivery of document shredding containers to existing and new customers.
  7. Operator II must accurately complete pre-and-post shift inspection and preventative maintenance logs for the Document Destruction vehicle assigned to you.
  8. Operator II must maintain the highest degree of security, safety, and confidentiality based on contractual requirements, AAA NAID certification, HIPAA compliance, OSHA regulations, and Opportunity Village policy and procedure.
  9. Operator II must maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times with customers and support personnel.
  10. Responsible for accurate and legible completion of all documents (i.e. service tickets, delivery tickets, and customer documentation).
  11. Operator II is expected to maintain communication with support personnel regarding route variables including but not limited to heavy traffic conditions, lag time with dock availability, lag time with customer specific needs and requests, etc.
  12. Complete any documentation related to working with an assigned Customer Service Associate (i.e. driver helper).
  13. Complete any annual trainings and screenings required for NAID certification, state and federal compliance, and other Opportunity Village requirements of employment.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position includes working with individuals with developmental disabilities, who serve as Customer Service Associates alongside an Operator II. Appropriate supervision of these individuals is required.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Must have knowledge of local transportation routes.
  • Must have excellent truck driving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Knowledge of defensive driving techniques and relevant transport laws.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and how to identify hazardous road conditions.
  • Knowledge of methods of securing and covering loads, including use of locks, straps and types of knots.
  • Ability to endure all outside weather conditions and high noise levels.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Two years of truck driving experience.
  • Required: Valid Nevada driver’s license and a clean driving history.
  • Preferred: Local truck driving experience.
  • Preferred: Fork lift certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

  • A typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 40 hrs. Occasional weekends and overtime are required when necessary.
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds; pushing and pulling of containers up to 300 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk and climb in and out of a truck majority of the work day.
  • Frequent bending, standing, lifting.
  • Ability to endure all outside weather conditions and high noise levels.
