Head of Program/Project Management Office will lead, drive and deliver large, highly cross-functional business and technology programs. The leader in this role will partner with C-level executives and leaders across the enterprise on business & product strategy, roadmap creation, design and execute software solutions, manage every aspect of the enterprise portfolio for product and solution delivery, and change management.
This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer and manage a cross-functional, matrixed group of professionals assigned as program manager, technical project manager and/or certified scrum master (CSM) on specific programs. As such, good matrix management skills and ability to drive diverse teams towards a common purpose and goal is an important requirement of this position.
This position is a key thought leader within the organization influencing stakeholders as the PMO continues to develop within the organization. As such, this position will also be responsible for setting up the PMO as it relates to efforts like aligning terminology, standardizing life cycle methodologies, creating standard processes etc.
Team Management & Operating Mechanisms
- Successful implementation of the PMO's strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables as well as maintaining policy and procedures.
- Build, train and coach direct reports and project team members for a high-performing and cohesive PMO.
- Motivate team and encourage professional development towards proficiency in managing strategic alignment and ensuring business objectives are met.
- Develop project, program and portfolio best practices and governance including a set of common standards and processes that can be applied across the organization for improving project delivery, processes, systems and guidance.
- Develop and implement a standard set of measures (SLAs, KPIs) that are common to all business project groups, and serve to drive a common view on project health across the organization.
- Form a critical mass of program managers and technical project managers that can be deployed towards high complexity, multi-functional, business-focused projects that serve to improve organizational efficiency and meet business objectives.
- Create operational excellence program within the enterprise, by partnering with business functions and applying and promoting business process improvement framework leveraging lessons learned across the portfolio.
Portfolio, Program, Project Management
- Provide support for project planning and the management of milestones, scope, resources, financials, risk and change management.
- Facilitate intake, prioritization, planning and execution of projects that span product, operations, engineering and sysops.
- Provide hands-on program management and coaching during roadmap planning, analysis, design, development, testing, release, product launch and post-launch support.
- Proactively manage changes in project and program scope, identify, communicate and resolve potential risks/conflicts, and create mitigation plans.
- Develop and deliver program updates, proposals, and presentations to executives and all program teams in a timely and clear fashion.
- Ensure cross-program technical and non-technical dependencies are managed and sequenced.
- Develop consistent and formal change management practices that can be applied to ensure portfolio, program and project objectives are met successfully as they relate to user adoption and engagement.
- Manage the cross-functional software programs from product/technology roadmap to product and solution delivery, covering a range of areas including software development and testing, operations, change management, human resources and hardware capacity requirement, co-innovation with internal and external partners, vendors and solution/product delivery.
This position will perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the department.
