Description

Position Summary

We are investing heavily in new product development initiatives to broaden our market opportunity and drive our future growth. Our agile product owner will serve a key role as the point person on our scrum teams to guide the tactical delivery of new features and functionality. They will be primarily responsible for envisioning, prioritizing and evaluating the work generated by the Delivery Team, ensuring every detail is meticulously thought through and accounted for. The Product Owner will need to be a strong collaborator that is highly motivated to understand our users and be driven to deliver continuous product value for our learners and their institutions. They will be someone who cares deeply about quality and will embrace the responsibility of maximizing the value of products created by the scrum development team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog to meet key business objectives
  • Collaborate with leadership, Customer Success, Engineering, Marketing, and end-users to create product roadmaps that focus on optimization, innovation and the customer experience
  • Create user stories, feature specifications and map out dependencies to ensure the necessary sequence of development
  • Own the execution of objectives and key results (OKRs) based on input from the leadership team, Product Management, and team members
  • Serve as the product’s key stakeholder in the delivery of value to the end-user
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize Stories, Epics, and Themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning and elaboration of the User Stories
  • Develop feedback loops to validate the most critical product changes prior to implementation and solicit ideas for new functionality
  • Work alongside UX/UI to create mockups that feed into the User Story Acceptance Criteria
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals
  • Research and analyze customer needs, the industry, competitors, and other potential industries for innovation and valuable product opportunities.
  • Analyzing user feedback and activity, and iterating to enhance the user experience
  • Must have the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and a willingness to keep their skills and industry knowledge current.
 
Position Requirements

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Agile Framework (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • A strong understanding of agile product best practices, with experience implementing them
  • Enough technical knowledge and experience to engage productively with engineering’s process of architecting, estimating, and planning product and feature development
  • CSM/CSPO/PSPO certification strongly desired
  • Ability to understand user needs, establish trust and confidence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Results-oriented, collaborative, and care for the details
