The Coffee Barista's responsibilities are to create a memorable experience for our guests by providing excellent and prompt service and quality beverages, working with team members to ensure the operations of the café are smooth and profitable, all while maintaining a clean and comfortable working environment. Coffee Baristas are also responsible for educating guests about our roasted coffees, teas, juices, and smoothies. This position is responsible for maintaining open communication on the status of the department with the Store Directors, Clerks, and Supervisor. You will be expected to set and re-set priorities, distinguish between the urgent and the important, solve problems, hold and reconcile ideas and lead program development as well as advancement strategies from conception through cultivation to completion. JOB TYPE: Full time/Part time, hourly position. Must be available weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Must be available to support business surges, vacations, etc. Must be available to adjust schedule to meet business demands. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Exemplify superior guest service with a friendly, helpful, and courteous attitude, using product knowledge and information to answer all questions guests may have about products Greet guests as they arrive and inquire about their orders in a courteous, fast, and helpful way Provide excellent guest service and build rapport with guests by learning names and favorite drink Answer guests' questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness Maintain the highest level of standards for all product preparation including proper grinding of coffee beans and top quality espresso shots Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation specifications as outlined Wash and clean fruit and vegetables according to food safety procedures Clean and maintain juicing equipment and juicing area Properly clean and sanitize all dishes, glassware, and pitchers Assist with cleaning other areas as requested Assist with beverage preparation as required Become familiar with the juice and smoothie menu and how to make each item Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products Maintain the expresso machine and thoroughly clean it at end of each business day Maintain blending and juicing equipment Prepare beverages to standard recipes or customized orders for guests, including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients, or substituted ingredients Weigh, grind, and pack coffee per guests' orders according to company guidelines Brew coffee per instructions while ensuring that each brew conforms to Buy For Less standards Serve brewed coffee and ask for feedback Make sure that coffee blends are stored in a safe manner Routinely clean the bar area, floor, windows, blenders and grinders, and takes out trash, etc. Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of all work areas Make sure that coffee brewing equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and maintained properly on a constant basis   Position Requirements Eighteen (18) years of age or older Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Proven leadership ability to exercise sound judgement in interpreting, communicating, and applying policy. Courage to make and implement hard decisions in a timely manner. Ability to demonstrate trustworthiness and integrity in daily activities Ability to work effectively with a broad diversity of individuals and backgrounds, and generational differences, all with the intent to support the core values of the BFL company. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, advocacy, and time management skills. Display a willingness to become knowledgeable of the organizational structure, policies, procedures, and operations of BFL and be a contributing team member.
