I Am Boundless, Inc. provides programs, services, and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or behavioral health challenges. Summary/Objective

The Employment Trainer is responsible for assisting adults with developmental disabilities with identifying appropriate and satisfying employment, locating and securing employment, and providing the necessary support to maintain or improve their employment opportunities.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Provides both on and off-site support, coordination, and connections to employment resources for individuals.
  • Observes and evaluates individuals’ performance, behavior, social development and physical well-being on and off the work site.
  • Assists and coaches individuals through the employer’s new hire and orientation process, facility and work site orientations, and provides on-going monitoring and support, in regards to performance, safety, responsibilities, etc.
  • Analyzes jobs and work environments and breaks jobs down into trainable steps.
  • Helps build natural supports within the work site and relationships with co-workers.
  • Promotes and coaches individuals to perform work responsibilities that foster independence.
  • Promotes a positive work attitude, proper grooming, acceptable work attire, and generally accepted work conduct by serving as a role model.
  • Serves as a liaison between the individual and the employer to facilitate an appropriate worker to supervisor relationship.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings, providing feedback on employment outcomes and opportunities.
  • Completes and maintains necessary documentation, assessments, and evaluations related to employment outcomes.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and positive demeanor as a community contact and organizational representative.
  • Demonstrates proficient written and verbal skills for effective communication.
  • Transports individuals as necessary to accommodate employment opportunities.
  • Ability to function independently with supervision of individuals with a variety of disabilities.
  • Must be capable of assisting individuals in situations requiring assistance with daily personal needs.
  • Completes additional tasks and responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • All other assigned duties.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to pass required background screenings.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize position responsibilities and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with peers and the community.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and in the community.
  • Willingness to travel to assigned locations and throughout the community.
  • Must be friendly, personable, caring, and creative.
  • Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must have the physical ability to frequently stand, climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs., twist, bend, squat, stoop, and reach.
  • Must be able to frequently walk and drive within the community in conditions including heat, cold, and inclement weather.
  • Must be able to pass a required DOT physical examination, including hearing, vision, and drug screenings
