Description

Job Summary: The Director of Planning, Senior Living has a primary responsibility for developing programming and planning for all senior living settings with focus on clients' goals and all who utilize the proposed designs. An agile and dynamic leader, this role connects ideas to clients' operations providing advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans, standards, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning: Provides master planning for large scale projects in designated area of responsibility.
  • Client Relationship: Collaborates to deliver solutions for the client organization's culture, goals, and budget while promoting an integrated approach to clients and their projects.
  • Business Development: Serves as an industry advisor and resource in the development of proposals and bringing new ideas and concepts to the ERDMAN's design team and collaborating with them to develop and execute solutions.
  • Operations: Reviews the segment planning group's operating results and ensures that appropriate measures are taken to achieve desired results.

  • Client Focus: Achieves service excellence and client loyalty by adding value, provides advice, expertise, methodologies, and problem-solving assistance to clients. Realizes the client's vision and successfully sustains long-term client relationships.
  • Functional Programming & Facilities Planning: The process of working with clients to research the scope of work, analyze data, and develop the programing for projects, using a defined body of knowledge relevant to the plan, resulting in optimal use of space and resources.
  • Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date awareness and understanding of best practices, technologies, products/services, events, trends, and regulatory issues that have impact on the healthcare industry and senior living, as well as other related services offered by ERDMAN.
  • Influence & Presence: The ability to conduct oneself with poise, self-confidence and professionalism at all times. Having the ability to win support, gain cooperation and establish credibility with others to directly impact and address their needs and concerns.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Healthcare Architecture; Master's degree preferred

Certifications and/or Licenses:

  • Licensed architect; member of NCARB preferred
  • ACHE or ACHA certification; fellowship status preferred
  • EDAC certification preferred
  • LEED certification preferred

Relevant Experience & Training:

  • 10 years of design & planning architectural experience
  • 5-8 years of client management and leadership experience
  • Experience with planning and conducting charrettes with clients
  • Familiar with quality improvement strategies and their application to planning
  • Must be knowledgeable with current senior living planning trends
  • Ability to maintain a constant focus on industry, client, and competitive trends in the senior living industries, and ability to apply this knowledge to both active client engagements and business/client development activities.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively to the public, potential clients, current clients, and industry professionals regarding the Company's business model and services.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a professional, creative, open office environment with business casual attire. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours. There are occasions where extra effort will be required to meet project deadlines. Great flexibility in schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to our many project deadlines.
  • 40% national travel required.
