This is a newly created position and is a development role. The incumbent works closely with the Infrastructure Manager to ensure the stable and secure operation of the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes assisting or leading initiatives for developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. The position will also manage end-user support service at the company's head office and as well as coordinate activities of the IT support team to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. Interacts with and coordinates activities of voice, data, and network service providers.
Travel (10%-15%) within North America to the manufacturing sites is required.
Performs analysis of network needs and makes recommendations to design of network architecture, integration and installation.
Provides desk-side end-user support either in-person or remote for Windows and Mac OS laptops, desktops, tablets (iPad and Surface Pro) and smartphones (iOS and Android)
Perform tasks such as create OS images, making additions to network printers, managing Active Directory, creating group policies, mapping network drives
Assist with maintenance of network hardware and software, including servers, firewalls, edge devices, voice, peripherals, network nodes, terminals and upgrading firmware
Works with Infrastructure Manager to checks systems for optimizing performance and to initiate recovery action after system failures.
Maintains network stability, collects and analyzes network and memory utilization, and installs and tests software patches and upgrades.
Assists with the computer operation scheduling, backup, storage and retrieval functions.
Assists with developing, testing and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
Creates and maintains documentation relating to network topology, performance, and server configurations

Managing service provider networks.
Managing and/or troubleshooting network problems and providing superior end-user support.
Strong knowledge of popular computer and server OS platforms.
Detailed understanding of IP addressing, IP routing protocols, Internet technologies and standards, Internet security issues, circuit technologies, communications engineering standards, web and network access technologies, computer office software suites.
Network management ability working HP/ Cisco IOS, QOS, firewalls and routers.
Proficiency with MS Project or equivalent to manage complex project activities and with MS Visio to create and maintain architecture and data flow diagrams.
BS in Information Technology preferred.
VMware VCP, MCSE, CCNA, or equivalent certification.
Preferred but not required AWS and or VOIP telephony certifications a plus
4-6 years of experience as a Network/Infrastructure Engineer)
Hands on skills with traditional and software defined networking technologies and using HP/ Cisco / equipment.
Hands-on skills with server virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Hyper-V or Citrix.
Experience implementing VoIP and IP-based PBX systems
Experience designing high availability production, disaster recovery and test environments.
Experience working as a team member or lead on large, multi-period, entity-wide projects.
Excellent analytical and communications skills.
Ability to communicate with 3rd party vendors and perform negotiations
