Description

The Development Services Intern will play a key role in assisting the Development Services team with administrative tasks necessary to support our department. S/he will be responsible for performing database maintenance tasks in our donor database including: constituent record updates, data enrichment projects (as assigned), processing return mail, acquisition record creation, duplicate record screening, and other database maintenance tasks as needed. This internship will be for 10 hours per week for 3-6 months.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Development Services Intern assists in the maintenance of our donor database:

  • Add, update, and correct address information in constituent records using information obtained from a variety of sources including online resources, returned mail, National Change of Address (NCOA), donors, and Foundation staff.
  • Research, and enter constituent relationship links within the donor database (spouse, child, family member, etc.).
  • Identify duplicate records for further review.
  • Monitor day-to-day integrity of database by performing daily data audits to confirm use of accurate data entry processes.
  • Assist in data integrity and maintenance projects as assigned by the Database Manager.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • College level courses in business, and/or database management is a plus

Required:

  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Ability to think systematically about problems, solutions, and implementation plans.
  • A thorough knowledge of personal computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • A proven ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and to represent the Foundation professionally through excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • A demonstrated ability to produce high quality work with minimal errors when performing a variety of work functions such as typing, proof reading, data entry, file management, and calculations.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • A willingness to clarify assignments and a willingness to seek and accept supervisors’ guidance, feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential information and use discretion in communications with others.
  • A positive outlook and a passion for continued learning and growth.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a non-profit foundation.
  • Experience with a non-profit, fundraising database software such as Raiser’s Edge, and/or a proven ability to become highly proficient at comprehensive databases and reporting systems.
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis.
