Description

LSA, a California environmental and planning firm, is seeking qualified individuals for an hourly Cultural Resources Analyst position with LSA’s Northern California Cultural Resources Group (CRG) in its Point Richmond office in the San Francisco Bay Area. The selected individual will conduct fieldwork, including archaeological survey, excavation, and monitoring. Please note that monitoring will likely comprise the bulk of work assignments. Basic report writing opportunities may be provided based on workload and the applicant’s facility with technical writing. Projects can be multi-disciplinary, involving knowledge of cultural resources management, prehistoric and historic-period archaeology, history, historical architecture, or traditional cultural properties. Fieldwork will occur primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area or Central Valley, but there is the potential for overnight or extended stays being required for far afield projects.

 
Position Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A B.A. in Cultural Resources Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field (or will be awarded the degree within 6 months of hire), with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in cultural resources management, preferably in California.
  • An understanding of federal and State cultural resources regulations and legislation, particularly Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

The successful candidate must be comfortable conducting research or fieldwork in remote, rugged locations in which resourcefulness and wilderness knowledge are essential to successful project conclusions. Excellent organizational skills, a team-oriented and positive attitude, and a solid work ethic are paramount for this position. Schedule flexibility, including the ability to potentially work weekends and holidays, is a must.
