Part Time Instructor - Utility Technology Lineman

Description

This position will teach orient students, in an outdoor lab setting, to proper and safe climbing techniques and the use of aerial lift devices. Students will construct overhead and underground primary and secondary electrical systems. Safe equipment operation will be stressed.

Part Time Faculty normally teach one or two courses per semester. Teaching assignments may be available for day and evening courses. Compensation is based on the total contact hours taught per semester, starting at $575 per contact hour. Benefits include State of Michigan retirment plan, tuition waiver and free membership to the ACC Wellness Center.

 
Position Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  1. Journeyman Lineman Card required.
  2. Strong working knowledge of teaching methods preferred.
  3. Curriculum development, especially online curriculum development preferred.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Teach lecture and laboratory portions of the Apprentice Electrical/Utility Technology courses and related areas. Teaching load deteremined by Master Agreement.
  2. Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students.
  3. Evaluate student progress through examinations, graded homework, quizzes, observations, and laboratory reports.
  4. Perform all requirements for laboratory exercises (including modification and word processing of laboratory exercises).
  5. Maintain appropriate instructional laboratories and equipment.
  6. Be available for individual student assistance, advising, and/or consultation as required by the Master Agreement.
  7. Participate in program advisory committee activities.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the department chariperson and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
