Description

SUMMARY
Operate all park department related light equipment. Performs park department duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Operate 4 X 4 truck with plow, all riding mowers, lawn boys, weed eaters, tractors, flatbed trucks, dump trucks.
• Assist in all park department projects using light and related equipment.
• Duties including mowing, hauling, snow plowing and park related maintenance of all facilities.
• Open and close facilities as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• Maintain records of daily work.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed or as delegated.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent education preferred.
• 1 year experience in operating light and heavy equipment.
• Any equivalent combination of relative education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to work independently and make necessary work related decisions.
• Ability to work with other departments on various projects
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and public.
• Must have knowledge about the Park department maintenance and safety procedures.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must have Commercial Driver’s License (Class B CDL) Endorsement

EQUIPMENT
Pickup truck, miscellaneous hand and power tools, tractors, flatbed trucks, dump trucks, 4 X 4 snow equipment, riding mowers.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high precarious places and in frequently exposed to wet and/or humid condition, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, except when operating power equipment.
