Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the clinical area, instruments and materials required for the procedures according to the individual preference of the dentist
  • Assist the dental specialist in providing patient care
  • Follow established guidelines for client identification and privacy
  • Ensure that records and treatment plans are recorded and subsequent appointments are scheduled
  • Take impressions and iTero scans
  • Prepare and store dental impression trays and dental models
  • Take, develop and ensure quality control of dental radiographs
  • Ensure lab cases are prepared, documented, sent and received
  • Participates in material procurement and management
  • Actively participates in morning rounds
  • Participates in orientation of dental residents, students and volunteers throughout their term at HB
  • Plays a role in supply management and preventative maintenance
  • Participate in our ITI Education Week
  • In partnership with clients/families and the interdisciplinary team, provides client and family-centred care which is goal directed, evidence based and outcome oriented
  • Supports and respects the client/family’s rights to make decisions based on their own values, beliefs and experiences
  • Bases practice on established policies and procedures
  • Interacts with members of the interdisciplinary team and community providers to ensure an integrated approach to service
  • Promotes and supports the physical, psychosocial and spiritual well being of clients and families
  • Collaborates with the client/family to plan, implement and evaluate care
  • Communicates in a timely, respectful and effective manner
  • Participates in organization-wide quality improvement activities and supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment for staff, clients and families
  • Support the organization’s strategic plan
  • Identify, share and participate in improvement initiatives
  • Comply with Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation code of conduct, contingency plan, emergency codes, standards and guidelines; participates in accreditation
  • Represent the program and organization internally and externally
  • Assist Dental Receptionists and Accounts Receivable Administrators as needed
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Completion of the Dental Assisting Program, orthodontic assisting training
  • Current knowledge of technology used within the department

Experience

  • One year relevant experience
  • Well-organized individual to assist staff in a busy multidisciplinary dental clinic

Special Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Computer knowledge

Certification/Licenses

  • Certified Level II Dental Assistant required
  • CPR Certification required
