POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

The Employee Communications Specialist is responsible for developing and leading RagingWire’s internal communications strategy and execution. The Employee Communication Specialist will work with senior leaders and internal stakeholders as an active provider of strategic communications to achieve leadership objectives in building employee engagement.

A successful candidate will drive enterprise communications to employees through a variety of internal channels — employee newsletter, SharePoint, email, events, digital signage — and support senior leadership in their communications to all employees. We are seeking an experienced, creative, energetic person who can encourage new ideas and alternative approaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with internal resources to develop, implement, and maintain all corporate communications channels.
  • Plans, manages, and executes internal communications utilizing various communications methods including Outlook, SharePoint, digital messaging, social media, video, written, etc. and stays current on the latest delivery options and trends.
  • Collaborates with HR Management team as resource for HR communications of events, benefits, surveys, etc. and identifies and recommends best ways to convey messages.
  • Manages and creates Digital Message Board company-wide content as well as oversees administrator access needed for other departments.
  • Collaborate with HR Management to design and maintain the HR-related content on the Company intranet, ensuring consistency.
  • Supports internal and social media communications to deliver a strong employee value proposition.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to draft, edit and publish timely company messaging that is consistent with internal strategy and tone.
  • Drafts, writes content, publishes, and distributes the monthly employee newsletter.
    • Coordinates all steps of writing assignments, from gathering information, conducting interviews, to writing, reviewing, editing, proofreading, and publishing stories. Applies visual and journalistic techniques for effective and engaging storytelling.
    • Manages all employee-submitted ideas and written articles.

  • Works with Executive team to prepare the CEO presentation for the quarterly Communications Meeting.
  • Sets timing of communication to coordinate with company events and initiatives.
  • Continually improves, measures and evaluates effectiveness of employee communications strategy and methods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Able to be highly confidential.
  • Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in multiple forms of communications technologies and approaches.
  • Superior English writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to create content and craft key messages related to employee matters.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptable, proactive, deadline-driven, results-oriented, highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Self-starter, able to work with general direction and exercise independent judgment.
  • Able to work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
  • Strong follow-up skills.
  • Manages stress and/or fast-pace effectively.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with corporate communications, employer or employee branding, intranets, digital message boards, internal social media, and employee surveys.
  • Superb writing, editing and proofreading skills, attention to detail.
  • Experience in effective, inspiring, inventive visual storytelling.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Standard office with extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional domestic travel to RagingWire sites.
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
