Status: Temporary Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Start date: November 1, 2019

End date: October 31, 2020 (1 year contract with possible extension)

Salary: Grade 6 ($32.06/hr - $40.14/hr)

Job Description:

We are seeking a Research Coordinator with experience working in a fast paced research environment. As a Research Coordinator within the Bloorview Research Institute the successful candidate will be required to work alongside an interdisciplinary research team working in the field of childhood disability research and participate in BRI related events, committees and meetings. Strong critical appraisal skills, effective communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills as well as excellent organization, time management, and priority setting skills are critical to the success of this position. Within this role the Research Coordinator will have the opportunity to work within multiple research labs, with different scientists and investigators whose research is focused on child development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with Grants and Contracts office, and assist with preparation, negotiation and execution of study specific contracts.
  • Assist with developing budgets, coordinate with BRI related to monitoring of expenses, reporting to funders
  • Assist in the development of informed consent documents based on regulations, REB consent templates and institutional requirements
  • Submit to REB and assist in coordinating revisions
  • Perform participant interviews, assessments or interventions as required by study protocols
  • Assist in the development of case-report forms, data collection forms and/or questionnaires
  • Assist with database design, in conjunction with Principal Investigator and Database Analyst.
  • Initiate and maintain research files that will include original consent, documentation, general correspondence, and data collection forms
  • Organize materials to facilitate protocol adherence, including study binders, research files and checklists of eligibility
  • Recruit for study and provide information and documentation for potential participants (consents, client eligibility items, required pre-study testing, roadmaps)
  • Co-supervise (with PI) Clinical Research Assistants, trainees & volunteers Assist Principal Investigator (PI) in new research proposals and preparation of grant applications/reporting; contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Aid in the development policies and procedures related to the research program, ensuring external regulations and guidelines are followed

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Preferred Master's degree or professional equivalent in a health-related field
  • 3-5 years of previous research experience
  • Experience administering standardized and non-standardized assessments would be an asset
  • Experience with children with developmental disorders is an asset
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet and MEDLINE searches)
  • Good understanding of TCPS 2
  • Experience following REB-approved protocols and ensuring the timely completion and submission of relevant ethics documentation (amendment requests, annual renewals)
  • Experience working with REBs including initial submissions and post approval submissions (CTO familiarity is an asset)
