Senior Software Engineer Clinical Decision  

Description

The Senior Software Engineer will lead and architect the platform underpinning current and future TRHC’s clinical decision support system products and medication risk stratification tool at the new innovative Tabula Rasa HealthCare (TRHC) Scientific Precision Pharmacotherapy Research & Development Institute. The software engineer will lead efforts to develop new systems and processes for becoming a driver in the design, architecture and implementation of the new TRHC’s CDSS platform. The successful candidate will be a technically strong, combination of experience in software and IT systems and preferably, proven leader experienced in the field of healthcare domain and clinical decision support system. This person will work in collaboration with other research and clinical scientists in the Precision Pharmacotherapy Research & Development institute for the integration of generated data and knowledge into the overall program strategies and to improve the efficiency of the TRHC’s CDSS. The software engineer will partner closely with the larger engineer team, business transformation and IT located in Charleston, SC in order to transfer technology and to create systems compatible with other platforms within the company.

TRHC Scientific Precision Pharmacotherapy Research & Development Institute (SPPRDI) is committed to the development of proprietary products, their validation and recognition by the scientific and regulatory communities to optimize medication regimen in order to improve patient outcomes, reduce utilization of various healthcare services, lower healthcare costs, and manage risk.

  • Participation and ownership in all stages of development processes: requirements, design, implementation, testing, and technology transfer.
  • Performs challenging work in designing, writing, editing, modifying, and debugging software applications.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to design and write high-performance, reliable, and maintainable code.
  • Learn new technologies and resolve challenges involved with integrating them with the current infrastructure.
  • Update and modify systems to improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with the R&D institute team in making decisions on future development.
  • Developing, testing and documenting RESTful APIs; with event-driven design patterns utilizing message queues; with SQL and/or NoSQL data stores; with designing, developing and deploying distributed systems.
  • Comfortable with large projects in source control (git), continuous integration (Jenkins) and writing unit tests and integration tests.
  • Design, develop and implement solutions around both a micro-service and monolithic architectures.
  • Provides expertise in the role of data management and analysis in systems analysis and performance optimization.
  • Explore methods to enhance code quality and system quality.
 
Position Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or related practical experience.
  • M.S. in Computer Science or similar technical field of study(preferred)

Experience:

  • 5+ of professional software development experience.
  • Expertise in two or more general purpose programming languages (C# preferred).
  • Experience in Healthcare Technology (preferred)

Specific Skills:

  • Ideal candidates must be innovative, creative, flexible and be passionate about building quality software.
  • Ability to architect, design, develop and implement solutions around a micro-service and monolithic architectures.
  • Highly skilled in written and verbal communication.
  • Has exceptional initiative and follow-through on projects with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Passionate about knowledge sharing and has the skills to help develop and advance the team through mentorship.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with clients, end-users, and team members.
  • Experience using platform provided tools preferred (Docker, Cloud Foundry, AWS, NewRelic, Sentry).
  • Familiarity with ontologies such as SNOMED, RxNorm, LOINC, ICD-10, NDC would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with 3D computer graphics.
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments; Interest and ability to learn other coding languages and technologies as needed.
  • Applying machine learning to identify patterns in data would be advantageous.
