Meridian is seeking a Systems Security Administrator with a security clearance for our Reston, Virginia location.

The Systems Seccurity Administrator will Administer and enhance the IT infrastructure supporting the hosting environment and corporate environment. This role will have a strong focus on security.

These environments span data center space and two office locations. System technologies in use in the environments include Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory domains, McAfee Antivirus, Symantec Desktop Encryption, Veeam Backup and Recovery, NetApp, Dell and EMC SANs, VMWare hypervisors, Dell and HP servers. Network technologies in use in the environments include Dell and Cisco switches, Cisco routers, Cisco ASAs, and F5 load balancers. Provide leadership in the information security/assurance initiatives (FedRamp, SOC, etc.) and support the installation of Meridian LMS at client site location and in the Meridian Hosting Environment.


  • Administer and enhance the configuration and operation of the VMWare infrastructure
  • Administer and enhance the configuration and operation of the SAN infrastructure
  • Administer and enhance the configuration and operation of Windows\Linux servers
  • Administer and enhance the configuration and operation of Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Administer and enhance the configuration and operation of the backup infrastructure
  • Administer network infrastructure for routine moves, adds, and changes
  • Identify low risk methods to Implement security controls identified during accreditation process
  • Deploy and configure new virtual or physical servers, in a Datacenter and/or Cloud based environment
  • Deploy\Install the Meridian Web Bases Application, locally and at client sites.
  • Lead/Assist with the Implementation of Security Controls related to security/assurance initiatives (FedRamp, SOC, etc…)

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the escalation point of contact for issues affecting internal users
  • Record events and problems in the ticketing system
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve challenging technical issues
  • Create or keep up-to-date hardware configuration, software configuration and inventory documentation
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and if necessary, contact IT vendor support for additional assistance
  • Collaborate with team members on software license and support contract renewals
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Participate in monthly after-hours maintenance activities
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures/security practices.

Position Requirements
  • Proven experience as a systems administrator managing Windows workstations and servers
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Experience in administering and configuring VMWare infrastructure
  • Experience in administering and configuring SAN infrastructure
  • Experience in administering and configuring Windows servers
  • Experience in administering and configuring Active Directory domains and Group Policy
  • Experience in administering and configuring Linux operating systems
  • Experience in administering and configuring Amazon Web Services Virtual Private Cloud
  • Experience implementing FedRamp, DoD STIG, OWASP, CIS or other industry security templates
  • Experience contributing to industry security accreditation documentation packages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSc/BA in IT, Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as VLANs, subnets, routing, and access control lists
  • Familiarity with F5 load balancing concepts such as virtual servers, pools, iRules, SSL profiles
  • Familiarity with McAfee Enterprise Policy Orchestrator
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect/SysOps Administrator or other AWS Certifications

This job operates in an office setting which incurs moderate noise consistent with a business office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some physical attributes are required, for instance, manual dexterity/typing, read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation, the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as well as, ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
