Share Email Opening Title GCCARD BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR  Union NON-UNION   Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time   Open Date 10/4/2019   Closed Date 10/18/2019   Location Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD)   Description GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs responsible duties which entail encouraging women to breastfeed and to provide support to breastfeeding women through direct assistance and education. A Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is a mother with successful breastfeeding experience. Peers see mothers in person or by telephone, in the home, hospital, or WIC clinics. The Peer Counselor also helps mothers to more effectively use community resources. STATEMENT OF TASKS: Successfully completes on-the-job required training in Breastfeeding Basics, Eating Right is Basic, Building Strong Families, and Immunization guidelines; Assists in marketing the program; Recruits and accepts referrals for the program; Provides one-on-one visits and education as well as group teaching; Maintains appropriate records and reports; Works collaboratively with the WIC (Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition and Education Program) and other community agencies.   This position is currently not accepting applications.
