Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive Engineering support to Proterra’s Greenville Site Manager, Mechanical Engineering and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of engineering solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.

About the Role – You will:

Design portions of engineering solutions for mechanical and electrical systems based on customer requirements, established engineering & quality principles and in accordance with developmental technology practices and guidelines.

Develop and implement parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, safety, reliability, system power measurements and acoustics.

Collaborate and communicate with management, other internal groups, customers and vendors regarding design status, project progress, requirement clarification and issue resolution.

Assist manufacturing and quality in root cause analysis and issue resolution.

Use CAD to create parts, assemblies and drawings.

Write ECO’s and assist with BOM management.

Other duties as assigned by management.

This position will be part of the Greenville based Engineering team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations in Greenville, SC.

You will report to the Site Manager, Mechanical Engineering and collaborate with other Engineering team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA.

Position Requirements

About You:

Your Experience Includes:

  • 0 – 5 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Designing semi-complex mechanical and electrical parts and systems and associated production tooling, manufacturing and quality processes
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels
  • Experience using 3D CAD software as an engineering design tool
  • Knowledge of GD&T principles
  • Experience working on problems of moderate scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors where exercised judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.

You might also have:

  • SolidWorks and / or Catia experience is a plus.
