General Summary

The Software Engineer, level 1, will participate in the development of application, driver, and user interface software using the following development environments: Windows 7 & 10, Visual Studio Forms, WPF, C#, and C++, Visual Studio 2012, LabVIEW, Test Stand

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops moderately complex software applications following coding standards and software development processes
    • Creates, maintains and deploys new software
  • Utilizes software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process
    • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software
  • Collaborates and adds value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
  • Works effectively in cross functional teams by participating in product and application definition activities and feature and requirements analysis
    • Recommends and estimates software design activities.

Job Specifications
Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the software development process
  • Working Knowledge or familiarity with: Windows 7, Visual Studio Forms, WPF, C#, and C++, Visual Studio 2012.
  • A working knowledge of software patterns and application construction
  • A disposition for teamwork, for example, to work with hardware design engineers
  • The ability to express and share software designs with UML, or similar textual and diagramming approaches
  • Must be a US person/US Citizen.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related field from four-year College or university is required.
  • 0-3 years’ experience with Software development process.


Computer Skills:

  • LabVIEW, Test Stand, LabWindows CVI, C/C++/VisualBasic, or C#.
  • Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Database software
