Energy and Building Performance Internship

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist staff with evaluating energy efficiency and renewable energy strategies in buildings, campus, and community settings
  • Develop inputs and use energy modeling software to inform design decisions
  • Quantify system performance, life cycle cost economics, and emissions reduction potential
  • Cleary communicate recommendations and concepts through graphical representation and correspondence to design teams
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Pursuing undergraduate or graduate level standing in related field
  • Proficiency with basic computer software such as MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communications skills

Desirable Experience:

  • Fundamental knowledge of building energy systems, energy analysis, thermal science, and/or building design and construction.
  • Experience with energy modeling software such as eQUEST, TRNSYS, TRACE, EnergyPlus or other similar software
  • Knowledge of relevant building energy codes, green building rating systems, and ASHRAE standards
  • Ability to communicate ideas through sketching and layout of storyboard concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of Autodesk
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in 3D modeling software such as Rhinoceros, Sketchup, or Revit

The ideal candidate will work part-time during the spring 2020 semester and full-time throughout the summer. The appoinment will end 8/2020.
