Our Team:

The Microbiologist I is responsible performing microbial detection and enumeration tests on raw materials and finished products. All tests and procedures are conducted according to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP guidelines. Documenting and reporting tests and results are an integral part of this position. The hours for this position are Mon. - Fri. from 7:30am - 4:00pm.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform and document routine microbiology testing on raw material, stability and finished goods.
  • Isolate and make cultures of significant bacteria or other microorganisms in prescribed or standard inhibitory media, controlling factors such as moisture, aeration, temperature and nutrition.
  • Identify microorganisms by microscopic examination of physiological, morphological and cultural characteristics.
  • Provide written reports and documentation of tests and results.
  • Conduct and document microbiology laboratory investigations.
  • Review and approve testing documentation (notebook write-ups, worksheets, etc.).
  • Support special projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Introduce new testing capabilities and methods to the laboratory.
  • Support ongoing additions and revisions to relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain laboratory environment and equipment. Assure that all work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Perform necessary cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation, as required.
  • Assure that all tasks are conducted safely and in accordance with all GMP, Company and department procedures and specifications.

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, food Science or related field.
  • One (1) to two (2) years related experience including internships.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Science or related field.
  • Familiar with ELISAs, growth promotion testing of cultured media, Biolumix, and water testing.
  • Knowledge of United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
  • Prior nutraceutical industry experience.
