About the Organization Red Oak Recovery, a CARF accredited program, is a premier clinically-driven therapy program for young adults and adolescents. We are here to serve clients, families, and other stakeholders through a very difficult time. Our team provides gender-specific treatment for young adults ages 18-30, and adolescent males 14-17 struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. Our licensed and experienced staff provide the most clinically sophisticated and integrative substance abuse and mental health treatment available.



As a small clinically-driven program we have the ability to meet each client where they are mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally to design a treatment experience that is unique to them.

Description

Located just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, The Willows at Red Oak Recovery offers a sanctuary for young women to focus on healing. As a part of the Red Oak Recovery family, our clinically dynamic approach to mental and behavioral health care prepares women for fulfilling, post-treatment lives. Our multidisciplinary therapeutic processes and treatment modalities allow us to customize each treatment plan in order to give clients the best chance of recovery.

We are currently seeking a Licensed Equine/Mental Health Therapist to work with young women ages 18-35 while in treatment. By understanding the power of working with horses to benefit recovery goals, the Equine Therapist will guide clients in a special therapy that teaches them how to recognize dysfunctional patterns of behavior and learn to define healthy relationships.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate individually tailored equine-assisted therapy sessions with individuals, groups, and families
  • Communicate and work with the clinical team and direct care staff to ensure the therapeutic needs of the clients in care are met and to determine the best practice for meeting those needs
  • Collaborate with clinical team to development individualized treatment plans
  • Develop, conduct, and monitor appropriate therapeutic tasks to assist each client in accomplishing their treatment goals
  • Complete treatment plans, progress notes and other records in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referring professionals
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned
  • Maintain complete confidentiality
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Experience with Equine Therapy
  • Master’s Degree in Human Service Field
  • LCSW, LPC, or LCAS, or pursuing licensure

Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Dual-licensed in both addiction and mental health treatment (or actively pursuing licensure in both)
  • Experience working with young adults, preferably in an eco-therapeutic setting
  • Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) strongly preferred.
