Race & Event Supervisor

The Race & Event supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Race & Event Crew, Race Operations and Events.

  • Role model expectations including Great Service, Quality Programs and Safe Snow Sports.
  • Assist in training race staff to meet job expectations. Document training with Training Acknowledgment.
  • Develop and update daily SOP for crew. Assist in documenting departmental systems and procedures and SOPs.
  • Organize and oversee all on-hill race programs and events including but not limited to Nastar, High School Races, College Race, Race league, Club programs, Lane Leases, Camps and March special events.
  • Familiarize self and crew with timing system and announcing operations.
  • Work closely with the Race Office Manager and Training Director to create and coordinate race schedule and participant needs.
  • Assist in recruiting staff for Race & Event Crew. Closely monitor staffing levels (labor) and respond quickly to business fluctuations.
  • Set and/or oversee course sets, establishing and documenting safety & fencing protocols for courses and venues, ensures adherence to netting and safety policy.
  • Supervise competition-related guest relations with superior guest service and professionalism.
  • Assess course conditions for slip/closure/set/reset requirements.
  • Assist Race Office Manager in maintaining participant database, including the registration and processing of all events, pre and post event administration.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on race participation and opportunities to improve the racer experience during race season.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities to support and increase participation in events.
  • Assist in with promoting all race and event programs held at Crystal Mountain during the winter season. Solicit vendors and organizations to host snow sports events at Crystal Mountain.
  • Assist in acquiring sponsorship for race leagues, race programs and special events.
  • Maintain equipment and race shacks. Communicate needs all needs.
  • Be the liaison between on hill operations and office staff and management.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.
Position Requirements


  • Prior race & supervision experience preferred.
  • Advanced skiing skills required.
  • Requires USSA Level 200 Certification by second year of employment.
  • Clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Previous promotional event experience is an asset

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical & Other Requirements:

    • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
    • The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
    • Able to work any shift, weekends and holidays as schedule and weather dictates.
    • Evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.
    • Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
    • Non-smoking candidates preferred.
