Schedule January 13-May 8, 2020; flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings depending on performance event schedule. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm.

Description

SUMMARY
Works directly with VPA Venues Marketing Manager to promote and publicize live shows and performances at VPA venues including the Morris Performing Arts Center, Jon R. Hunt Memorial Plaza, and Century Center.

Works and observes processes in different facilities and division meetings as applicable.
Maintains professional contact with staff, external partners and the public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Works with Director of Venues and Venues Marketing Manager to conceptualize and implement multiple marketing initiatives for each venue.
• Ramps up publicity for shows by assisting with press releases, marketing projects and social media assignments.
• Utilizes graphic design software to create logos, advertisements, brochures and website graphics that capture the spirit and brand of VPA venues, individually or collectively.
• Helps create print and electronic marketing materials; tracks website and social media activity.
• Attends divisional and departmental staff meetings, as requested.
• Networks with professionals in multiple fields within the City of South Bend and the local business community.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• College undergraduate, graduate student, or recent university graduate with academic focus/experience related to tourism, events management, entertainment, hospitality studies, recreation, public affairs or nonprofit management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Skillful in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
• Ability to write press releases and generate marketing and website copy as needed
• Familiar with Google Analytics, website content management systems and social media platforms
• Professional demeanor and poise when interacting with the public and City officials
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Reliable transportation is required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office settings, with moderate inside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Entire office is smoke-free.
