About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. Job Title: Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)

Primary Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Director, COPSD, the LCDC exercises independent judgement and serves as the primary contact person with their assigned agency patients. It is through the counselor’s ongoing individual contact with his/her individuals that the major objectives of treatment are attained. The LCDC shall provide assigned individuals with necessary program information and scheduling referrals to internal and external resources, individual counseling, and guidance in developing their treatment plans and goals. This position will also coordinate, develop, and oversee the group counseling services at Hill Country MHDD Centers. The nature of this position is fast-paced in high-stress situations and conditions. Responsibilities also include administrative and managerial work with staff, other organizations, and community organizations, individuals receiving behavioral health services, their families, and the general public.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in the human services field OR related field
  • Two (2) years of relative experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or univeristy in the Human Services Field or related field

Licensing Requirements

  • Current Texas LCDC License
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance
