Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two-year machine tool technician course preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in CNC machining
  • 3 years of MasterCAM X9 or higher experience preferred
  • Solidworks or other solid modeling experience preferred (i.e. PRO-E, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA)
  • Strong experience with 3, and 4 axis CNC milling required
  • Excellent blue print reading and GD&T skills.
  • Experience with 4th axis programming
  • Experience with aluminum cutting preferred
  • Background in machining of precision small parts preferred
  • Experience setting up Haas and Fanuc controllers

  • Proficient in reading and understanding dimensioning, tolerancing, shop math, geometry, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and the use of precision measuring instruments
  • Must be able to read, understand and interpret electronic drawings, electronic models, mechanical drawings, and assembly drawings
  • Proficient in bench work including drilling, tapping, filing, assembly, and inspection of components for form, fit and function
  • Strong problem-solving skills, thinking outside of the box, creativity, analytical thinking, and positive interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to work with little guidance to meet objectives
  • Safety and quality awareness and compliance are required

Description

FeraDyne Outdoors is looking for an experienced RND Machinist to add to our engineering department.

The RND Machinist is responsible for layout, machining and fabricating quality prototypes using manual and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machines, sheet metal equipment, 3D printers, and a wide variety of hand and power tools.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • MasterCAM programming and technical support for 3, 4 axis CNC mills
  • Machine set-up and operation of complex and quick turn prototype and production parts
  • Estimating CAM and Machine routing times
  • Training and technical lead for less experienced
  • Interpret engineering models, drawings or sketches to fabricate parts and assembly hardware in support of R&D programs.
  • Provide innovative input, as appropriate, to engineering staff to help meet overall program goals
  • Set up, adjust and operate machine tools including, but not limited to, manual and CNC mill, manual lathe, various saws, and drill press.
  • Use all applicable precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, verniers, height and depth gages, gage pins and blocks, etc.
  • Review work requested and determine best methods and sequences of operations to fabricate parts efficiently and cost effectively
  • Maintain and operate all machine tools in a proper and safe manner
  • Keep machines, tools and equipment clean and well maintained.
