Manufacturing Engineer (Cut/Sew/Wrap)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

??The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing processes and procuring Interiors Cut/Sew/Wrap Equipment/Tooling such as bladder machines, cutters, skivers, wrapping fixtures and new manual 2D & robotic sewing machines to meet the demands of the industry. Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following specific Engineering Activities:

 

  • Assist with design feasibility of CSW parts, work with the customer to show capabilities in all CSW areas
  • Support pattern design and understand the material capabilities that go with hand sewn and wrapped processes
  • Evaluate design feasibility and provide guidance to OEM design studios, Inteva Product Engineering and work with Controls Engineer to assist in sewing feasibility for robot sewing and other Cutting and Wrapping processes
  • Provide/generate specifications for equipment and tooling used for quoting and follow PVP4 process.
  • Be responsible lead to the plants for any issues
  • Coordinate equipment installation at manufacturing sites
  • On call to existing manufacturing sites and support any issues that arise
  • Provide/generate preventative maintenance and troubleshooting documentation for new equipment
  • Work and communicate with manufacturing plants during program launch (prototype build & production start-up) and provide ongoing support as-needed during production life.
  • Initiate and implement equipment improvements, cost savings ideas, etc.
  • Manage scrap and meet all program production metrics
  • Troubleshoot any mechanical sew head issues and any program issues with responsible Controls Engineer
  • Safety mindset
  • Works well in a team environment both in a plant setting and lab setting

 

 

 

 
Position Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED/PREFERRED)

Required:

  • Bachelors Manufacturing Engineering required
  • Excellent equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with robotics
  • Project management skills
  • Creative problem solver
  • Design Pattern making experience
  • Understanding of basic principles of sewing machine operation
  • Self-starter
  • Control systems & Robot programming experience
  • Robot simulation experience
  • CAD experience
  • Manufacturing principles experience
  • Hand tools and hands-on work experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar field
  • Familiarity with industrial sewing machines
