Job Summary The overriding business objective for the Software Engineer I will be to support the design, development, and test of innovative aircraft Power Systems. The key performance objectives for this position are described below: Interface directly with customers and product support to assist in issue resolution for existing products. Partner with engineering, business development, and product support to develop customer facing tools, test fixtures and documentation for existing products. Implement a strategy for replicating software build environments Develop and maintain custom software tools used by customers, engineering and manufacturing. Improve and maintain software lifecycle management and static code analysis tools. Implement software improvement initiatives. Resolve issues, add new features to existing source code and become proficient in the DO-178C software development lifecycle. In summary, the successful candidate will have a significant impact to the growth of Astronics. Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical degree. Requirements: Coursework and/or experience with real-time embedded software development in C (includes personal projects with microcontroller development kits) Coursework and/or experience with C++, C#, Java or Python Ability to debug existing source code and troubleshoot hardware Ability to review and understand electrical schematics, data sheets, and industry specifications Knowledge of Agile, Scrum or Kanban is preferred Interest in a growth path to a software project management position a plus Strong verbal and written communication skills Coursework and/or experience with the software development lifecycle (planning, requirements, design, implementation and testing) is preferred Experience with version control and configuration management tools is preferred Experience working on team projects is preferred Eligibility Requirement: Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
