Description

JOB PURPOSE: Ensure basic needs of residents are met. Maintain safety and security of the facility. Answer hotline and respond to crisis situations to ensure safety for callers. Provide transportation and individual advocacy to clients.

Weekend Shift: Saturday and Sunday from 8pm to 8am

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

25% - Develop effective, trusting relationships with mothers and their children.

20% - Monitor facility and visitors for unauthorized individuals on perimeter, sign in/out log and security cameras. Conduct room inspections as assigned. Check in visitors for any social or training functions taking place to ensure authorized visitors are in the facility.

20% - Provide crisis intervention, individual advocacy, and referrals to hotline callers and clients.

10% - Accompany clients to legal and medical appointments as needed and provide advocacy. Advocate for persons with disabilities.

10% - Documentation of clear and precise shift notes, and other forms as necessary of your shift.

5% - Provide transportation when needed. Fill out taxi vouchers when residents are being transported.

5% - Engage with clients by utilizing a trauma informed care and strengths based approach.

5% - Assist case managers with client assessments and filing, as needed.

100% - Demonstrate exceptional customer service, in everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to “Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities.”

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School or GED

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years in a customer service focused environment. 1-3 years of experience with persons with other disabilities, preferred.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

OTHER: Ability to work on an on-call basis and report on short notice; if hired for on call position. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to residents and children served, staff and others, i.e. CPS workers, facility guests.

COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.

COMPUTER: Basic computer knowledge. Prefer experience with Word and Outlook 40 WPM, 90% accuracy.

DECISION MAKING: Ability to quickly analyze a situation and determine if On Call Staff, EMS or police need to be called.

NEGOTIATION: Ability to talk clients through a crisis and make community referral as needed. Ability to resolve conflict between residents.

TECHNICAL: CPR and First Aid; will train.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Orientation: 5 hours

On-the-Job: Cultural Competency, working with persons with disabilities, crisis interventions

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS: Multi-line telephone, computer, ten key calculator, printers, copiers, faxes. Security camera.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Mobility requirements vary per shift. Daytime and evening shifts are very mobile. Overnight shifts are more sedentary.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoors: 90 % -Office and residential environment; normal noise level.

Outdoors: 10 % - All weather conditions and variable temperatures.
