Food Truck Program Coordinator

**Position Hours**- As needed to work with food truck vending including some nights and weekend work.

Position Summary: This position is a supervisory position overseeing adult supports for the sensABLE snacks food truck. This position is responsible for ensuring best practices, compliance with all state, federal, and agency standards as required for assigned services. The Program Coordinator’s primary duties are to oversee the care and training of food truck interns and staff as they are both employees and supported individuals. This initiative, which operates within the Transition to Employment program grant, provides adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities a positive work training and/or experience through duties associated with serving snacks in the community from the food truck.

Essential Job Functions:

Individual/Family Related

  • Maintains a professional work training environment and participates daily in the direct services of the food truck staff/trainees.
  • Maintains confidential records on all individuals and families, which include individual goal planning, progress toward goals, medical information, and assessments of employment performance.
  • Encourage & motivate individuals with preparation for shift service or their tasks as it relates to the food truck including assessment and adaptation of protocols for individualized learning.
  • Drives the truck/van to sites and support the interns and employees on shift.
  • Explains and trains other staff members about individualized learning challenges and strategies to maintain consistency on shift and in overall support of the food truck interns and staff.
  • Alert team members of new diagnostic, health, and behavior changes, in compliance with HIPAA guidelines, that may affect the performance of food truck staff members or overall level of service for sensABLE snacks.
  • Assists with providing transportation opportunities for individuals to and from places of employments, personal appointments, and for recreational and other events.
  • Encourages food truck staff to work independently, make their own decisions, interact with others, and participate in community activities.
  • Encourages appropriate family involvement.
  • Maintains awareness of successes, problems, and general attitudes of the individuals, their employers, and the community.
  • Assists with dispensation of medication, as needed.
  • Ensures adequate staff coverage and that staff are confident.
  • Shares patience and knowledge related to working with intellectual/developmental disability population.
  • Ensures all training is provided and coordinates training opportunities.
  • Advises team on an individual’s needs, determines independence level on food truck tasks, and readiness for potential placement or experiences beyond this project.


  • Recruits, hires and supervises all positions in coordination with Food Truck Manager and approved by Program Director.
  • Engages and advertises the food truck venture in the community, social media, and web site updates.
  • Purchases and maintains up to date inventory (with food truck staff when appropriate).
  • Resolves scheduling problems.
  • Completes staff evaluations.
  • Operates program within approved budget
  • Participates in budget development for cost centers.
  • Accurately maintains petty cash account.
  • Assists in maintaining the calendar for vending, helps apply and pay for permits and determine potential sites.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality, manages use of PTO time, and follows all policies and procedures regarding time off.
  • Follows all ESUCP Policies and Procedures.
  • Must demonstrate Easterseals valued behaviors of Accountability, Commitment and Caring as appropriate to position.
  • Performs related duties as requested by the Program Director.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Recruits and hires full and part time food truck interns and employees in collaboration with Transition to Employment Coordinator, Food Truck Manager and when necessary, input from the Program Director.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates Food Truck interns and staff.
  • Assigns shift service duties to all employees in conjunction with the Food Truck Manager and Transition to Employment Coordinator.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures overall safety of all employees.
  • Establishes rapport and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and community partners.
  • Instructs employees on the use of service delivery on shift and food truck equipment handling in coordination with Transition to Employment staff and the Food Truck Manager.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma with degree from a four-year college or university preferred. 2 years of experience working and/or living with individuals with developmental disabilities is required.
  • Job coaching support experience highly preferred.
  • One year of administrative/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage diverse duties and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with families, community agencies, and volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must have a valid state appropriate driver’s license.
