Summary: Ensures efficient and cost effective balance of materials for the requisitioning and scheduling of manufacturing and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews ERP for system generated requirements
Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price availability and delivery schedule.
Prepares purchase documents and insures appropriate terms and conditions / flow downs are documented.
Initiates purchase requisitions and work orders to satisfy production schedule while minimizing inventory-carrying costs.
Review suppliers on time delivery performance and participates in supplier evaluation
Identifies and addresses long lead times and critical path components / assemblies.
Expedites orders as required to ensure that materials are available when needed by Manufacturing's schedule.
Monitors raw material to control inventories at targeted levels.
Completes cost estimates, sourcing and buying in a timely manner within the pre-determined criteria (Quality, Price and Delivery).

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school plus minimum 5 years experience in both Production Planning and Purchasing. CPIM & CPM certifications preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software
