Market Research/Business Development Manager - Cranberry, PA

Market Intelligence BDM's at VertMarkets are responsible for cultivating large clientele by understanding their sales and marketing intelligence gaps and challenges and then developing and selling custom primary research programs that exceed their expectations.

Essential Job Duties:

Identify Your Buyer

  1. Within the clientele, identify the key stakeholders in each of the departments that will have a say in the decision for the primary research services we offer
  2. Consult with management to identify new market segments for the company to target – initially focused on CMO and CRO market in Life Sciences Group.
  3. Collaborate with media BDD’s and BDM’s to identify primary research needs at their largest accounts

Learn Your Buyer

  1. Understand the market your clientele work in as well as or better than they do, including market trends, areas of opportunity, common intelligence challenges, and how the buyer/supplier relationships work
  2. Understand the opportunities, goals, and challenges each client has and how they believe they will solve their sales, marketing and intelligence related challenges to reach their goals
  3. Understand the role of each stakeholder involved in overcoming these challenges, focusing on the marketing department (primary) and the sales department and other involved executives (secondary)
  4. Understand the individual goals and challenges for each individual stakeholder involved

Help Your Buyer and Engage Your Buyer

  1. Consult with Custom or Library prospects to help them shape their market intelligence strategy
  2. Consult with Library clients to help them fully utilize the research they purchased
  3. Develop, communicate, and implement Custom or Library research solutions that help your clients overcome their challenges
  4. Consult with company management to formulate pricing for Custom or Library research solutions
  5. Deliver these proposed Custom or Library research solutions to each stakeholder in a way that resonates with them and their individual goals and challenges
  6. Identify and utilize data and other sources of information to effectively make a case for your proposed Custom or Library research solution with each stakeholder
  7. Uncover specific objections and either alter the proposed Custom or Library research solution or identify and utilize data and other information to change the stakeholder’s perception
  8. Have conviction and be able to prove that your Custom or Library research solution will actually help solve the client’s intelligence challenges
  9. Negotiate the terms of the solution and execute a contract with the client

Understand Your Buyer

  1. Help the client execute their program to the most effective extent by adapting operational best practices to their specific situation
  2. Consistently utilize data and client feedback to understand how the program is performing towards solving their intelligence challenges
  3. Adapt your solution as necessary to get the outcomes the client needs and/or to align with changing client needs
  4. Establish a feedback loop where you use data from the program to inform each stakeholder on the progress, outcomes, and additional recommendations based upon what you are learning
  5. Consult with company management to apply newly created solutions to other clients and prospects across all market segments and territories

 
Position Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

- Bachelor of Arts or Science

- Enterprise Sales Experience

- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity

- Conflict able – not conflict averse, not conflict prone, but conflict ready

- Absence of call reluctance

- High attention to detail

- High initiative

- The desire to help customers and co-workers
