Intramural Sports Official (Recreational Sports) We will be hiring officials for the following sports: Basketball, Football, Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball Please bring ALL required i9 documents to the Interest meeting on Monday, September 23rd at 6:30PM - Cal Poly Recreation Center Multi-Activity Center (MAC). Open Night: Tuesday, September 24th 6-9:00pm Basketball - Recreation Center Main Gym Football - Doerr Family Field Softball - Lower Sports Complex Open Night: Wednesday, September 25th 6-9:00pm (Volleyball/Soccer) Volleyball - Recreation Center Main Gym Soccer - Upper Sports Complex. If offered the position HR orientation will be on Friday, September 27th. Locations for orientation will be announced after being offered the position. Orientation times for 9/27/19 are listed below. Times: 8:00am-9:00am; 2:00pm-3:00pm; 7:00pm-8:00pm Definition and Purpose Under the supervision of the Coordinator - Recreational Sports and the Student Manager – Intramural Sports, the Intramural Sports Official is responsible for providing a fun atmosphere in a competitive, yet safe, environment. Officials must be able to implement policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness and safety. ASI is committed to supporting the aspirations of the University Learning Objectives. Additionally they will work productively as individuals and in groups while communicating effectively. Educational Requirements and Qualifying Experience - Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. All ASI student staff must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at Cal Poly. Graduate students must carry 4 units/3.0 cumulative GPA at Cal Poly.
- Ability to officiate multiple intramural sports
- Knowledge of game rules and intramural policies preferred
- Participation in Intramural Sport Officials' Training Clinics
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needs
Supervisory Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Educate clients and enforce policies regarding safe and proper use of equipment and facility
- Officiate intramural contests
- Assist with pre and post-game logistics and administrative functions
- Assist with preparation and inspection of the game site
- Provide PR/Program promotion and policy education to participants
- Attend quarterly officials training clinic
- Maintain familiarity with evacuation plan for work area
- Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, and retreats
- Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
- Awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity
- Maintain prompt hours and follow absence procedures
- Maintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workers
- Adhere to and enforce all ASI departmental policies and procedures
- Ensure a safe environment for all participants
- Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities - The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.

Period of Employment Employment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at any time and ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.
