Information Technology Director 

Description

The IT Manager provides leadership, vision, and management to the Information Technology department; is responsible for providing day to day supervision for the Network Administrators, IT Project Manager, IT Compliance Coordinator, IT Support Manager and IT Application Support Manager; works with IT staff to ensure the department complies with the standards and processes that are defined for Information Technology; act as key escalation point for all IT issues. Ensures the department maintains the resources to meets all organizational goals, objectives and expectations of City Leadership.

Ensure that the IT department is suitably resourced.

Responsible for developing guidelines, standards, and procedures for IT department.

Responsible for day to day supervision for Network Administrators, IT Project Manager, IT Compliance Coordinator, IT Support Manager and IT Application Support Manager, which includes the support teams, network team, and development team.

Responsible for conducting annual performance evaluations for IT staff.

Hold regular departmental meetings to review strategic goals and initiatives, promote team building, and work to provide growth path for IT staff.

Ensure the effective transition to new/updated systems including hardware and software updates and new system requirements.

Assist in planning system modifications and upgrades in conjunction with departmental or business objective goals.

Ensure City of Thomasville users and IT staff are aware of the latest cyber threats and work with IT Compliance Coordinator to train users.

Provides oversight of organizational IT projects with the IT Project Manager. Helps determine timelines, priorities, and make budget recommendations for new and existing projects.

Responsible for fiscal year IT budget planning as well as ensures IT Department remains on budget throughout the year.

 
Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, or management information systems (MIS).

5+ years management experience in an IT environment.

Microsoft Windows certificates highly desirable.

Cisco or Juniper networking certificates highly desirable.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

Must possess good oral/written communication skills.

Must have strong analytical and logical problem solving skills.

Must have strong working knowledge of computer networking and software applications.

Must have strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills.

Ability to adapt to frequently changing priorities and tasks.

 
Physical/Environmental Requirements Mobility to work in typical office settings using standard office equipment is required. In addition, vision to read printed materials and computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
