Position Structural Engineer  
Description

This position will have the opportunity to make a difference and work in a dynamic, rewarding and challenging environment. It will provide structural design support on major transportation projects and have the opportunity to lead and mentor junior staff. This role also helps play a key role in developing and marketing Alliant to private and public clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently adhere and apply standard structural engineering principles and techniques.
  • Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills needed in writing proposals, scopes of work and preparing project budgets.
  • Structural design of steel, prestressed concrete, and cast-in-place concrete bridges
  • Preliminary and final bridge plan development
  • Development of quantity calculations, cost estimates and project specifications
  • Design of minor structural elements of infrastructure projects, such as retaining walls, sign supports, and drainage structures.
  • Collaboration with roadway, drainage, geotechnical and other disciplines to deliver high-quality project deliverables.

    Position Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis
    • 4+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structures design
    • Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) License
    • Strong working knowledge of structural analysis software such as CSiBridge, Larsa, MIDAS, STAAD as well as MicroStation CAD software.
    • Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and MnDOT policies and procedures
    • Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities, organization and multitasking skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bridge ratings in AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (formerly known as Virtis)
    • MnDOT Bridge Inspection Team Leader certification
    • Post-tensioned concrete design and detailing
