Purpose of Division: NeighborWorks America, through NeighborWorks Services Group, provides a comprehensive spectrum of courses, consulting, networking opportunities and other support to help professionals and their organizations adopt innovations, improve performance and achieve meaningful impact. We offer organizational capacity assessments, skills-based training courses, leadership-development programs and sophisticated tools for quantifying outcomes.

Position Summary: This position is focused primarily on cross-promoting our various Services Group offerings, as well as undertaking creative work (writing, graphic design) that supports effective and efficient marketing of Services Group offerings. In addition, this position is responsible for promoting all training courses provided online or in a place-based format, targeting both client organizations and prospective training participants. Finally, this position is a primary liaison point for our collaborative work with Public Relations and Resource Development.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop marketing materials to promote our online learning and place-based training products and disseminate to prospective client organizations.
  • Develop materials and approaches to market NCHEC products and services beyond Training Institutes.
  • Create and send targeted email messages promoting online learning courses and place-based training events to prospective learners to maximize course participation/revenue.
  • Develop and distribute information via social media that targets non-NeighborWorks network audiences, working with other marketing staff and Public Relations as appropriate.
  • Undertake graphic design and marketing copywriting as needed (emails, fliers, templates, webpages, annual catalog, etc.), working with fellow marketing staff as appropriate.
  • Represent NeighborWorks and the Services Group at industry events and trade shows, networking with partners and customers as appropriate, and promoting our presence.
  • Work with the Resource Development team to ensure that they are equipped with materials that communicate the full range of our offerings.
  • Network with potential partner organizations to trade event calendar listings, e-newsletter inclusions, banner ads, etc. Write content as needed.
  • Update web content on the public website for Service Group offerings as needed (e.g., news items, event updates, course and faculty highlights).
  • Explore new opportunities to better cross-promote to customers shared by our various business units and work to integrate with ongoing marketing efforts.
  • Manage the NeighborWorks mobile app for our major training events. Create basic content and design, coordinate marketing efforts, and provide assistance to end-users.
  • Provide on-site assistance at training events and at industry conferences and trade shows as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Nature of Work Contacts:

  • Collaboration with NeighborWorks America Training Division staff as well as other NeighborWorks America staff and affiliate organization staff
  • Regular contact with printers, designers and other vendors and professional services consultants.

Position Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related area

(b) Experience: Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications, website maintenance, email marketing and customer service, or any combination of training, education or experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below

(c) Licenses, Certifications: N/A

(d) Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of online marketing environment (web content development, banner ads, social media, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills for communication with internal staff and training participants from diverse backgrounds.
  • Entrepreneurial creativity—ability to adjust to and create new projects, and to work independently.
  • Solid analytical skills and the ability to think strategically and make strategic marketing recommendations.
  • Experience researching new potential market audiences (organizations, networks, etc.) and marketing media opportunities (online and other).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple activities in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and project leadership.

(f) Technology: Proficiency in MS Office Suite software. Experience with HTML, DreamWeaver, Kentico or another Web application, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience and knowledge of and interest in community development preferred.

(a) Travel: Travel up to 20% (6 times per year for up to 7 days at a time)
(b) Physical/Sensory Demands:

  • Fast-paced working environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
