As a Graduate Interior Designer, you are a post-graduate, pre-professional interior designer working towards NCIDQ certification who supports full scale design under supervision of a Senior Interior Designer or Team Leader. You will assist in all phases of interior design including pre-design, conceptual design, space planning, signage, project coordination, Revit/AutoCAD document production and contract administration, while liaising with clients and consultants for various projects.

You support the Interior Design discipline through creativity, interpersonal savvy, peer relationships and customer focus to develop design concepts and create accurate documentation in all phases within the established design principles, project budget, and schedule. You are committed to self-development and through priority setting and technical learning, you grow functional/technical skills to support business growth.


Project Quality

  • Exhibit initiative, eagerness to learn and take on new responsibilities, respond well to mentorship, management, and training, and continuously show professional growth through performance contributions.
  • Assist with and undertake selection of furniture systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Assist with developing the interior design content for the design development package including prototype samples and mockups as necessary.
  • Coordinate document requirements with design team and corresponding plan and drawings.
  • Assist with project reports and analysis documents such as field reviews, client summaries, and program analysis.
  • Attend on-site visits and field reviews to become acclimated on our methods, style, and approach to working with outside with contractors and vendors.
  • Develop good communication with internal team members, clients, and external partners:
    • Effectively articulate interior design ideas to the client and project team.
    • Maintain contact and clear communication with the client at various levels of project work.
    • Report schedule and budget deviations to the Project Manager and client on a timely basis.
    • Coordinate work with other disciplines to deliver a cohesive high quality design result.
  • Prepare design presentation materials and participate in highly effective verbal presentations to clients.
  • Coordinate and prepare quality working drawing contract documents, sketches, plans, details and schedules, using AutoCAD or REVIT software.
  • Develop and maintain basic understanding of building codes and construction regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and introductions of furnishings.
  • Follow Progressive’s Project Process standards and best practices.
  • Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.
  • Attend professional development activities including “Lessons Learned” sessions.


  • Work with senior staff to ensure your work effort is in line with the overall project budget.

Position Requirements


  • Your Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture or equivalent in education and experience required for professional certification.
  • Your Licensure: Working towards NCIDQ certification. IIDA or ASID membership preferred. Willingess to earn CSI-CDT certification (training supported in-house)
  • Your Knowledge and Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of post-graduate interior design experience.
    • Beginning knowledge of the interior design and documentation process, including a high level of creative talent in conceptual design and rendering skills of either hand sketching or computer modeling, as evidenced through an outstanding portfolio of past work.
    • Beginning knowledge of space planning, sustainability and other trends in the design/construction industry.
    • Beginning knowledge of furniture, fixture, and equipment, architectural/interior finishes, lighting, signage, art, and color schemes to carryout design intent.
    • Good ability to produce and develop excellent design concepts and content.
    • Beginning experience with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
    • Beginning knowledge of applicable codes and ability to assist in conducting research for
    • Good ability to express and show a passion for building and maintaining client relationships and providing exceptional customer service, modeled through strong communication and interpersonal skills, including preparing and performing presentations and demonstrated through your competencies.
  • Your Technical Skills:
    • Good knowledge of SketchUp, Revit/AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign are required. Experience in producing construction documents.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
