Therapist - School Liaison/Co-Responder - Youth

Wyandot BHN is currently seeking a dedicated Therapist - School Liaison/Co-Responder to join our youth/school based therapy team! The School Liaison/Co-Responder will respond to the 4 area school districts to potentially de-escalate situations and offer safety alternatives outside of law enforcement, emergency room or acute hospitals. The School Liaison/Co-Responder will collaborate with local area schools to provide full mental health assessments and help youth and families connect to already existing supports or refer for engagement in mental health and recovery support services.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Respond to crisis from the school.
  • Provides assessment, triage, safety planning to youth experiencing behavioral health symptoms at school, coordinating with the families of the youth.
  • Help with acute hospital access if situation requires it.
  • Make referrals to mental health services if not already established based on assessments and triage.
  • Coordinate with existing supports to ensure the needs of youth are being met to support their recovery and support them at school.
  • Acts as the lead liaison between 4 area school districts, PACES, youth and families, and others pertinent systems the youth is potentially involved in.
  • Coordinate all referrals and crisis request from each of the 4 school districts.
  • Attend monthly leadership meetings with USD 500 and quarterly with USD 204.
  • Coordinate health fairs, presentations, and training opportunities.
  • Track data outcomes: number of referrals from each school district, number of scheduled intakes, number of youth entered into crisis services, number of crisis events.
  • Documentation of all client contacts and relevant information in the electronic medical record and in accordance with PACES procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field is required with professional license.
  • Knowledge of specific medical/psychiatric illnesses, procedures and treatments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including negotiation skills necessary to work within a team
  • Ability to provide rapid clinical psychosocial assessments and brief, short or long term treatment/management with youth and families
  • Advanced crisis intervention/treatment/management skills
  • Cultural responsivity and demonstrated competency in all relevant areas, including effective communication with a diverse population.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize decisions using multiple criteria and identifiable standards of policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of community agencies/resources.
  • Ability to advocate/negotiate systems for/with youth and families.
  • Ability to be a team player and assume other appropriate duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to work within a Windows operating system and related programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Three years of clinical experience as a licensed mental health professional; or combination of training, education, experience, and licensure or registration that is equivalent and provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Required possession of a valid state driver's license.

Shift Days  
Hours Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm and Fridays 9am-5pm. Some after-hours or weekends may be required.  
Pay Range $40,500-$43,000
