Assistant Principal for Student Affairs

The i3 Academy Assistant Principal for Student Affairs will be responsible for creating a culture throughout the school that furthers the mission of i3 Academy. To empower learners to be agents of change for the problems they see in their world. This position will manage all aspects of school climate and culture. I3 Academy is a startup school and will require individuals who are highly flexible and willing to go above and beyond.


Maintains a supportive school climate which reflects high staff, student, and stakeholder morale

Maintains close communication with all teachers to provide constructive feedback on behavior management strategies

Connects faculty to well-selected professional development opportunities which encourage a positive community and culture

Maintains the school calendar to avoid conflicts

Communicates to stakeholders regarding upcoming events, highlights, and important information

Provides parent education on topics relevant to the success of our students

Works closely with the Director of Student and Adult Learning to assist teachers and families in supporting our learners

Refines and maintains student behavior in consonance with school policies, communicates with families, and maintains records of incidents that require consequences beyond the classroom

To assist families in student recruitment, application and enrollment

Serve as a leader in creating a positive school climate and helping students develop a positive self concept

Maintaining student behavior through positive behavior support and development of intervention strategies

Ability to work successfully and positively with all types of students

Motivates students to increase individual decision-making responsibility

Determines the root cause of student behaviors and is familiar with social-emotional learning, positive behavior supports, trauma-informed practices, and restorative justice

Works closely with Community Liaison, Social Worker, Counselor, and outside agencies to coordinate student support services


Masters degree

Alabama Administrative Certification

At least 3 years of successful teaching experience

Agreement with the goals and philosophy of i3 Academy

Demonstrated success with professional staff, students, and the community

Demonstrated success in stimulating parental involvement
