Position Residential Coordinator  
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time

Under the supervision of the Manager of Supportive Services, supervise and support Residential staff at our Boston site; serve as a liaison for Boston-based programs; contribute to the leadership of the Supportive Services team.

Representative Duties:

1. Provide management oversight of Residential programs; supervise and provide support to Residential staff.

a. Supervise and provide on-going training to a team of three residential advocates at the Boston site to ensure clients receive comprehensive screening, referral and assistance with all levels of case management, housing search, residential program move in/outs, and eviction prevention in conjunction with the HIV/AIDS Standards of Care.

b. Coordinate the intake and move-in process for incoming residents for all Boston-based housing programs, including obtaining all required documentation, scheduling move-in dates, and assisting with move-in logistics. Communicate waitlist activities to Client Services staff, outside providers, and clients to ensure that openings are filled in a timely manner.

c. Develop and maintain positive relationships with area landlords and property management companies to facilitate effective communication and collaboration, and to maximize housing options for clients. Provide information to property management staff or unit owners regarding the move-in and departures of clients. Identify and research available apartment listings that fall within program parameters.

d. Assess staff skills in collaboration with the Manager of Supportive Services and provide staff trainings focusing on improving access to care, increasing stable housing arrangements, and reducing the risk of homelessness. Ensure all services are provided within the harm reduction & housing first frameworks and are easily accessible to clients in need of services, particularly those who are most impacted by social economic inequality.

e. Work as part of an integrated team to assist clients in accessing services offered by all AAC programs. Facilitate access to resources that will assist clients in optimizing health outcomes and moving towards self-sufficiency, including medical, housing, financial, mental health, substance use, sexual health, legal, vocational, and educational services. Facilitate case coordination, including communicating with other providers to improve access to care and reduce duplication of services.

f. Assist with residential reporting requirements, including submitting proposals and program reports to area funders, in collaboration with the Manager of Supportive Services. Review staff client records to ensure documentation such as assessments, individual service plans, progress notes, clinical indicators, and all other required paperwork is up to date and entered in AAC’s electronic database, ETO.

g. Develop a wide-ranging resource network for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Greater Boston area. Provide coordination, linkage, and follow-up with existing service programs to maximize access to services, especially for those that are experiencing homelessness, substance users, immigrants, and/or people of color.

i. Enforce agency’s policies and procedures. Ensure proper documentation procedures are maintained including submission of reports, data collection and overall maintenance of client records and other required paperwork.

2. Meet agency participatory expectations

  • Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adhere to the highest principles of client confidentiality
  • Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; enforce agency’s policies and clinical procedures, including safety and crisis procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintain professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities

Position Requirements


  • BA or equivalent and two years’ human services and/or case management experience.
  • Commitment to harm reduction philosophy, the housing first model and/or experience delivering low-threshold, easily accessible services.
  • Case management and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment with issues that include HIV/AIDS, homelessness, active substance use, poverty, and mental health.
  • Self-directed, motivated and flexible with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the confidential nature of client’s personal information regarding HIV/AIDS and the need for strong boundaries.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • Sit at a computer station for extended periods of time
    • Ability to keyboard for extended periods of time

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises three residential advocates at the Boston location.
