About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Under the clinical supervision of the Registered Nurse on staff, the LVN performs technical nursing functions within the scope of their license to provide for the care, treatment, and welfare of people served in the Crisis Stabilization unit.

Responsibilities include: medication administration, transcription, assisting the RN with assessment of patient status and care needs, observation and reporting of patient physical and mental status, and documentation of patient care services. Maintains inventory of the medications, medical supplies, and medication room. Provides medication education/training and support to patients and families as assigned. Ensures infection control and safety measures are followed. Under RN clinical supervision, provides guidance and direction to direct care staff on assigned shift. Provides timely and accurate documentation, which supports diagnosis and outcome-based services. This position requires flexibility in schedule

Other Duties:

  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule as assigned and adheres to facility guidelines related to time, attendance, and notice of absence.
  • Communicates clearly and works effectively/harmoniously as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism in all actions
  • Make efficient use of time and resources.
  • Attend and successfully complete training required by the job.
  • Adhere to Hill Country MHDD policies and procedures of the program or department to which they are assigned.
  • Observe safety practices, rules and operating procedures

HCMHDD Centers offers student loan forgiveness for this position.

Position Requirements

Academic / Work Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Relevant experience in the medical field utilziing LVN knowledge and skills.
  • Experience providing services to people with mental health issues - Peferred
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with consumers and supervisory staff

Required Certifications /Licensure:

  • Current LVN License valid in the State of TX
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Current Automobile Insurance
