Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Consultant works to effectively assess and consult NTC client programs toward their standards-aligned program implementation and sustainability goals, uses program and practitioner assessments to contextualize and present NTC’s professional learning curriculum, and provides in-field coaching that build/sustain high-quality professional learning programs that demonstrably improved student outcomes. Presenting professional learning sessions includes face-to-face and/or online sessions for coaches/mentors, principals, and/or district stakeholders. The Program Consultant also supports the development of co-presenters as well as contributes to the design, development, and refinement of NTC’s products and services.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
The following is an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. The employee may perform other duties as required.

  • Consult client program leaders as they implement high-quality, comprehensive induction and instructional coaching programs aligned with the NTC Theory of Action and Program and Practitioner Standards
  • Develop processes and materials that support client’s long and short-term goals
  • Monitor client program’s progress via ongoing formative assessment and support processes
  • Provide in-field coaching to program leaders and/or lead coaches/mentors based on NTC’s Program and Practitioner Standards
  • Design and present professional learning session to new and/or veteran teacher coaches/mentors and school leaders based on assessed needs/ways of sustaining high-quality, comprehensive induction and instructional coaching programs
  • Coach and support development of NTC and/or client co-presenters
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor regarding each client program’s progress and strategic support in alignment with the contracted scope of work
  • Coordinate with NTC Impact Team personnel and client to develop, monitor, and analyze data of implementation and impact
  • Contribute to the Bay Area’s partnership-engagement and fundraising efforts, ongoing consultation, and to the preparation of funder proposals and reports
  • Provide information and make presentations to various stakeholders about promising practices related to teacher induction, instructional coaching, and school leadership development
  • Represent NTC at events, meetings, and convocations involving educational initiatives or stakeholders that take place in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, and regional states

    Professional Learning Responsibilities
  • Participate in collaborative Bay Area team meetings/learning retreats and NTC internal learning sessions
  • Remain professionally curious and current through professional readings and research especially relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion; adult learning theory; and responsive pedagogies that support a range of learners toward student learning standards
  • Share video and other artifacts of practice to support collaborative professional inquiry and action
  • Engage in formative assessment practices that support one’s own and colleagues’ professional growth
  • Develop conference proposals and conduct conference presentations
  • Effectively manage professional calendar, travel, financial, and other job responsibilities
  • Learn to use and describe NTC’s online systems that support high-quality, comprehensive induction and instructional coaching programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of recent classroom teaching experience (K-12) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of mentoring experience in NTC-supported model or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of school reform, professional learning communities, and the influence of induction mentoring/instructional coaching on professional identity, commitments, and practice in service to student and learning community needs
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories and practices
  • Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area public educational landscape preferred
  • District and/or site-based leadership experience preferred
  • Must be experienced with Common Core State Standards and/or similarly rigorous state standards and the professional learning that supports teacher practice toward those standards
  • Valid teaching and/or administrative certificate/licensure preferred
  • Successful completion of NTC Professional Learning Series 1- 8 and Presenters Institute preferred
  • Experience with NTC program implementation preferred
  • Knowledge of NTC’s approach to educator development; Theory of Action; induction program and practitioner standards; instructional coaching program and practitioner standards; formative assessment and support tools, protocols, and frameworks preferred
  • Foundational knowledge of culturally responsive/sustaining pedagogies and demonstrated curiosity about implications of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in educational environments
  • Knowledge and experience designing and presenting responsive professional learning sessions/workshops
  • Experience with peer coaching/data-guided professional feedback
  • Experience with supporting non-profit funding processes preferred
  • Ability to develop and write professional grants and reports
  • Ability to manage complex programs involving multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage one’s time and productivity in a dynamic, team-oriented work environment
  • Ability to collaborate with NTC personnel to assess and improve client services using innovative and measurably effective approaches
  • Demonstrate ability to develop strong professional relationships and work well within districts and NTC
  • Reflective practitioner demonstrating the ability to use feedback to improve professional practice in service to school districts/educators
  • Willingness to travel regionally based on client or project assignments, 50% - 70% time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • General knowledge of Google Apps, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting software and experience with assessment data desirable

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
  • Limited physical effort required
  • May have substantial national travel via airplane and/or car based on office location/client assignments
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm
  • Driving, grasping, hearing, repetitive hand motions, lifting under 50 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, talking, typing
