Purchasing Agent 

About the Organization Allied Oil & Supply, Inc. is a family owned business head-quartered in Omaha, NE. Allied Oil is a lubricant distribution business which sells to the passenger car, truck, and manufacturing segments. The company's six branches sell and distribute premium branded product such as: Shell, Petro-Canada, Chevron, Valvoline, Premium Blue, CAT, Bio Blend, & Allied private label. The company has locations in Omaha, NE, Sioux Falls, SD, Des Moines, IA, Kansas City, MO, Joplin, MO, and Wichita, KS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain stocking levels of assigned vendors
    • Use Demand Planning software to determine product needed
    • Determine if there is an overstock in another warehouse
    • Upload orders/transfers into Adam
    • Place order with vendor
    • Arrange freight if needed
  • Negotiate pricing with non-core vendors
  • Maintain pricing in Adam
  • Set up item numbers as needed
  • Monitor customer back orders and determine whether the product needs to be ordered directly from the vendor or stock transferred from another warehouse - enter transfer if needed
    • Notify Account Manager and CSR of status and ETA
    • Track Special Order product to insure it is delivered
  • Maintain stocking levels of spoke warehouses using Demand Planning software
    • Upload transfers into Adam
  • Work with Account Managers on forecast over-rides for new customers and demand changes of existing customers
  • Work with Account Managers, Director of Purchasing and product line Vise Presidents to evaluate new products and/or vendors
  • Assist on special projects when needed
Position Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Knowledge of supply chain systems and operations.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize one’s own work, strong self-motivation.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective telephone communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to be friendly, courteous, and tactful.
