Mission Each Housekeeping site shift leader will provide overall supervision of housekeeping services for a single site in the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is a level 1a, care facility headquartered in Bay Pines, FL. Originally opened in 1933, the main medical center is located on 337 acres situated on the Gulf of Mexico approximately eight miles northwest of downtown Saint Petersburg, FL. Co-located on the medical center campus are a VA Regional Office and a National Cemetery. This area is part of Tampa Bay, the second most populated metropolitan area in the state. The healthcare system operates nine facilities to include the main medical center in Bay Pines and outpatient clinics located in the Florida cities of Bradenton, Cape Coral, Naples, Palm Harbor, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Sebring. The medical center and its outpatient clinics serve Veterans residing in 10 counties in central southwest Florida to include Charlotte, Collier, Desoto, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pinellas and Sarasota. Every year, the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System serves more than 108,000 Veterans while providing a full range of high quality medical, psychiatric, and extended care services in outpatient, inpatient, residential, nursing home, and home care settings. The system is the 4th busiest VA healthcare system in the country regarding patients treated or served. Major responsibilities include (not all inclusive): The work to be performed is a clinical environment and requires safety precautions and special requirements such as the cleaning of human secretions, blood, etc., both floor and wall stain removal. Certain areas require the use of gloves, gowns, masks, and shoe covers. The Shift Leader shall possess at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in hospital/medical housekeeping services (not general housekeeping). Must speak and read English well enough to perform their duties and understand both written and verbal instructions and directions. Before beginning work, must show proof of having received the following immunizations. Tuberculosis Testing (TB-tine or PPd) and Hepatitis B (3 shot series, with blood titer upon completion) Qualified Candidates must have: Experience includes a minimum of 5 years of housekeeping experience, which will consist of a minimum of 2 years of general housekeeping experience and at least 3 years of specific and verifiable hospital housekeeping experience Travel may be required through the following locations: South Saint Petersburg, Palm Harbor, Sarasota, Bradenton, Naples, Port Charlotte, Sebring Must have a valid driver’s license Must speak, read, and write English fluently Before beginning work, must show proof of having received the following immunizations.
