Mobile Crisis Responder - After Hours 

Description

We are seeking an After-Hours Mobile Crisis Responder (PRN) to provide assessments, intakes, interventions, hospital screens and crisis resolution in the community for both, youth and adults. This person will work in partnership with the Kansas City, Kansas community on an on-call basis. This person will work closely with the Wyandotte County Jail, local hospitals, law enforcement, HRADAC, and our 24/7 crisis center (RSI).

The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Mental Health Professional with current Kansas licensure and have the ability to provide flexibiltiy in scheduling, evenings and weekends, and be available to respond within 30 minutes to consumers in crisis.

  • Work closely with community partners to problem solve complex situations and develop plans for immediate and appropriate interventions.
  • Respond quickly to conduct rapid mental status assessments, crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, intakes, hospital screens, and crisis stabilization house assessments on-site as requested by community partners.
  • Provide crisis interventions on-scene with individuals (child/adult), families, and/or others present as needed, with an emphasis on assessing needs, securing appropriate level-of-care services, and minimizing trauma.
  • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to appropriate services in the community and under our Wyandot Inc. umbrella, including RSI, PACES and Crisis Stabilization House.
  • Conduct hospital admission screens and oversee the admission process. Collaborate with community partners to facilitate hospital discharge plans that may occur afterhours/weekends.
  • Strive to develop intervention plans that prevent or reduce admissions to the jail and hospital, when other interventions can meet client needs.
  • Prepare to quickly respond to calls at all times during a shift. MCR should strive to respond on-site within 1 hour.
  • Share relevant clinical information from EHR to assist with the resolution of a crisis.
  • Assigned duties will require travel to community hospitals throughout the Kansas City Metro area, detention centers, nursing homes for mental health, law enforcement calls, RSI, Crisis Stabilization House, or any additional community based site requesting mobile assistance. Responder would not be required to respond to a residence unless called by Law Enforcement with Law Enforcement personnel on site for the duration of the intervention.
  • Follow all safety protocols, and utilize a second staff member or CIT officer whenever safety is unknown or questionable.
  • Afterhours MCR will follow-up with WC staff regarding calls/call-outs they receive while on call, ensuring solid continuity of care for follow up services. Progress notes will be entered into the medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with the development of diversion plans to help reduce/prevent hospitalizations and incarcerations;
  • Act as a boundary spanner for criminal justice systems, mental health systems, and additional community based service organizations during the hours the mental health center is not open.
  • Coordinate with 24/7 crisis line contractor and/or the on-call supervisor when necessary for any MCR needs during the shift.
  • Adhere to and remain compliant with Medicaid, State licensing regulations, grant and other contractual standards..
