About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. Job Title: Family Partner (Part-Time)

Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. At the present time, we are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Family Partner.

Position Summary:

A Family Partners provides support to the parent/Legal Authorized Representative (LAR) of the child/youth and does not provide services directly to the child/youth. Access to quality family partner supports can be instrumental in engaging families as active participants in the child/youth’s care and equal members of the child/youth’s recovery team. A family partner’s personal lived experience is critical to establishing a trusting relationship and earning the respect of families currently within the mental health system. Family Partners can be a mediator, facilitator, or a bridge between families and agencies. They ensure each family is heard and their individual needs are being addressed and met. Through their work with parents/LARs, family partners directly impact the child/youth’s resilience and recovery.

This position requires flexibility in schedule. This position also calls for an independent self-starter with excellent organization and documentation skills. The qualified candidate for this position must meet the requirements for Medicaid background check, be 18 years or older and willing to become certified within one year of employment.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency
  • Minimum eighteen (18) years of age
  • Minimum one (1) year of lived experience parenting a child under the age of 18 with a mental, emotional or behavioral disorder and made legal decisions regarding the child’s treatment/services.
  • You must be able to articulate your lived experience with other families without becoming overwhelmed.
  • Experience navigating another child serving system for one (1) year such as Special Education, Social Security, Juvenile Justice or CPS and the lived experience must speak to successful accomplishments.
  • Must meet the requirements for Medicaid background check
  • Must become a state certified Family Partner within one year from the date of hire
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Current Automobile Insurance
