The HR Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for the management and administration of employee relations, performance measurements and compensation documentation for the commission based assigned business unit. Provide exceptional leadership and skillful consultation to managers on a variety of employee and/or labor relations, and management issues.

Position duties include but not limited to:

  • Serves as a trusted business partner to the managed program team on HR-related issues.
  • Works collaboratively with program managers, and all other assigned employees, to provide day-to-day coaching and advice related to a variety of employee relations issues, performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Develops and maintains strong, effective relationships with the program managers, learning & development director, and staff, to proactively manage, motivate, coach, train, and mentor employees to excel and achieve goals.
  • Manages employee relation cases from inception through conclusion to address the particular situation. Interprets policies and procedures, advises on fair and equitable employment practices, makes recommendations and provides strong leadership and guidance in support of our culture and complies company policies along with Federal and State law.
  • internal investigations, writes investigative reports, documents findings and makes recommendations to management as appropriate. Partners with managers to carry out resolution, which may include final disciplinary warnings and terminations. Coordinates processing of documentation and seeks advice from HR management.
  • and manages performance-based activity reports/analytics for assigned group(s). Provides HR and Sales Management activity reports monthly, or as assigned. Works closely with commissions department and national sales manager to draft and execute comprehensive compensation agreements and amendments for investment representatives and sales assistants. Performs periodic commission agreement audits.
  • program managers in drafting corrective action and performance improvement documentation, and then proactively manages the corrective action process.
  • Ensures consistent application of company policies and practices, including the Employee Handbook, and responds to employees with day to day HR questions and requirements.
  • employee conflict situations and provides company policy/resolution information to program managers and employees.
  • employee grievances as an objective professional, providing balance between the employee and the manager to achieve a fair outcome.
  • Contributes to the support and implementation of corporate-wide policies, procedures, systems and initiatives.
  • Tracks, interprets and analyzes trends in company employee relations to proactively identify issues and develop training and other solutions.
  • Performs exit interviews for assigned business unit, tracks employee turnover data, and provides summary data to HR management.
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus a minimum of 3+ years’ experience as an HR Business Partner or employee relations specialist resolving complex employee relations issues is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Broad functional experience and knowledge of human capital functional areas (talent, performance, compensation, compliance, etc.) is required.
  • Possess expert level coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, presentation, process development, analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate exceptional judgment, self-management, impeccable ethics/integrity, and a high degree of personal and professional maturity.
  • PHR/SPHR preferred.
