Assistant Principal for Operations

Position Summary:

The i3 Academy Assistant Principal for Operations will be responsible for systems, processes, and procedures to enable educators at i3 Academy to pursue the mission of the school: To empower learners to be agents of change for the problems they see in their world. This position will manage all aspects of school operations. I3 Academy is a startup school and will require individuals who are highly flexible and willing to go above and beyond.

Operational Functions

  • Manages site level procurement of supplies, materials, equipment, and inventory management.
  • Acts as manager for transportation/carpool, foodservices, facilities maintenance, security and other third party service contracts, ensuring ongoing monitoring and implementation of contracts.
  • Manages all aspects of free and reduced lunch program/process, including but not limited to: managing the entire application process in coordination with child nutrition program staff.
  • Manages all aspects of the school facility including but not limited to: building access, building aesthetics, landscape maintenance, building use, ordering supplies, security equipment, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Manages all aspects of transportation program including but not limited to: establishing bus routes, procedures for student safety, point of contact for all transportation contractors.
  • Coordinates technology implementation (planning, procurement, and training).
  • Assists with application, lottery, enrollment and registration focused on creating efficient processes and procedures that are family centered.
  • Prepares reports on site operations.
  • Supports all operational and logistical projects for start-up operations.
  • Manages day to day activities of designated non-instructional staff.
  • Assists in the hiring and selection process of designated non-instructional staff and contracts.
  • Determines professional learning needs for non-instructional staff.
  • Leads annual performance reviews for non-instructional staff.
  • Implements safety and security procedures, policies, and trainings.
  • Coordinates security services and contracts
  • Coordinates wellness and health services in collaboration with the school nurse.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student information
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School. *i3 Academy is a start-up environment and may require acceptance of responsibilities not assigned in this job description.


  • Masters Degree Preferred
  • Certification in Education Administration
  • 2 years administrative experience
  • 3 years teaching experience

Preferred skills and work experience:

  • Demonstrated success in managing non-instructional contractors

  • Experience working in education organizations.

  • Experience with staffing processes and general human resource procedures.

  • Operations and facilities management experience.

  • Experience in managing and enforcing service level agreements and contracts for outsourced services.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage others.
