About the Organization Hill Country Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Centers is a unit of local government and a not-for-profit, 501C provider of Mental Health and Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Substance Abuse, and Veteran Peer Services throughout the greater Texas Hill Country Region. Hill Country MHDD Centers is designated to be the Mental Health Authority by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority by the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) for a 19 County Service Area including: Bandera, Blanco, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Llano, Mason, Medina, Menard, Real, Schleicher, Sutton, Uvalde and Val Verde Counties. With a Mission of Promoting Independence, Community Integration and Recovery, HCMHDD Centers operates (10) ten Mental Health Clinics, (8) Developmental Disability Centers and serving a population of over 630,349 consumers within 22,593 square miles.

Job Title: Direct Support Professional - Day Services

Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. At the present time, we are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Direct Support Professional. The right candidate will be responsible for providing compassionate care, assisting with personal care needs, and supporting and encouraging meaningful interactions between individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the community.

You will be an advocate for the whole community with disabilities. Those most successful in this position are: empathetic, patient, prudent and care for the individuals served in a way that encourages their interdependence and inclusion in the community.

Position Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Competency Test
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with consumers, co-workers and supervisor


  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance. Able to push, pull, lift and / or carry over 20 pounds
  • Able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
  • Ability to provide CPR after obtaining Certification
  • Ability to demonstrate PMAB skills after successful completion of agency training curriculum
